The data is then sent to the ECU to calculate timing and fuel ratio for the engine. Like all sensors, they can fail over time. This may cause long cranking time, decrease in power, acceleration, and fuel economy. If your Engine light is on, have the code scanned you may have a faulty cylinder head temp sensor.
