Honda used bullet connectors for the vast majority of the wire joints across the CT90 through the CB750. Over fifty years they corrode, work loose, and crack on the female side. The fix is to re-terminate them with the correct connectors, not the oversized mystery bullets you’ll find at the auto parts store.

Installation

Difficulty: Intermediate

Tools needed: Open-barrel crimp tool (sold separately), soldering iron

1. Slide the rubber boot onto the wire first. A little window cleaner helps it slide on.
2. Strip the wire and crimp in three stages: the outer crimp curls around the insulation, the inner crimp grabs the bare wire, then give the inner crimp a second squeeze with the end of the tool.
3. Solder the connection for a permanent joint that won’t work loose.
4. Slide the boot up over the finished terminal.

The suggested wire size for these terminals is 16 gauge. An open-barrel crimp tool is required to install them and is sold separately.
