Drum Brake Perch & Lever Set | Honda CT90 / CB175 / CB350 / CL360 / CB450

The right-hand perch takes every drop. It is the first thing to hit the ground, it carries the brake lever, the light switch and the mirror, and on a fifty-year-old bike it is usually cracked, seized, or wearing a lever that someone straightened once too often.

Why You Need This

This is the whole right-hand assembly, not just a lever. Polished cast aluminum perch, Honda-style lever of the correct size and length, sold as a set — so you are not matching a new lever to a tired perch and hoping the pivot lines up.

The perch carries a mounting boss for the front brake light switch and a threaded 10 mm mirror mount, which means the switch and the mirror both land where Honda put them. It also tilts: you can rotate it up or down on the bar so the lever meets your wrist at the angle you actually ride at, which matters more once you have fitted aftermarket bars.

This is a DRUM brake part. If your bike has a front disc, none of this applies to you.

Model-Specific Notes

• Does NOT fit the CT90 / Trail 90 K0–K5, the CB200, the CB450 K3–K7 or the CB500T.
• CB360 — check which brake your bike has. The CB360T (1975–1976) came with a front disc, so this is not the part for it. The very early CB360G (1974) shipped with a drum brake before Honda switched to hydraulics, and this set fits that bike. Any CB360 with the disc — the rest of the CB360G run and every CB360T — takes a disc lever instead. The CL360 and CJ360 have front drums and do fit.
• Lever choice is yours. Classic or Power, polished or black. The perch is polished aluminum either way, so a black lever on a polished perch is a real combination if that is the look you want.

Installation

Difficulty: Beginner

1. Disconnect the brake cable from the old lever, then unbolt the perch from the bar.
2. Slide the new perch on and set its angle before you tighten it — rotate it up or down until the lever sits where your hand naturally falls.
3. Grease the pivot bolt and fit the lever.
4. Reconnect the cable and set the free play.

Setting free play. There are two adjusters and they do different jobs: the main one is at the brake arm on the front brake panel, and the small one at the perch is for fine tuning. Do the coarse work at the wheel and save the perch adjuster for the last few millimetres. Measured at the lever tip, aim for 15 to 30 mm on the CB350, CL350, SL350, CB450 and CL450, and 20 to 30 mm on the CL360, CJ360 and CT90.

If you are adding the brake light switch: it may stop just short of seating. There is a ridge running around its end face that sits a hair wider than the perch casting, and trimming a small amount of plastic off each side lets it drop fully in. When you take one back out, push it out rather than pulling on it — pulling can separate the switch from its wires and terminals, and then you are buying another one.

While the cable is off, look at it properly. Replace it if the barrel end is rusty, strands are coming off, the ends are bent, or the housing is kinked or chafed. New cables do not arrive lubricated, so oil one before it goes on — loop it with both ends up and drip light oil in from each end until it works through.

I bought a replacement right-hand switch box and it has no brake perch. Is this what I need?

Yes. Replacement right-hand switch boxes come without a perch, which catches a lot of people out. This set gives you the perch and the lever.

Will this fit my CB360?

Look at the front wheel first. The CB360T (1975–1976) has a front disc, so no. Not every CB360 is a disc bike. The first CB360Gs shipped with a front drum before the switch to hydraulics, and this set fits those. If yours has a cable and a drum rather than a caliper, you are in the right place. If yours has a drum and a brake cable rather than a caliper, send us a photo of the front wheel and we will confirm the right parts. The CL360 and CJ360 use front drums and this set fits those.

Is the brake light switch included?

No. The perch has the mounting boss for it and you can add the switch at checkout, but the set itself is the perch and the lever.

Can I use a black lever with this perch?

Yes. Pick the lever style and finish you want at checkout — the perch is polished aluminum regardless.

Will my mirror thread into it?

If it is an M10 x 1.25 right-hand thread mirror, yes. That is the thread on this perch.
