Sprockets are an ongoing wear item, and the front one usually goes first. This is an exact replica of the factory front drive sprocket for Honda CB175, CL175 Scrambler, and SL175 models running the factory 428-pitch chain — made from top quality steel and available in three tooth counts.

Why You Need This

High mileage, improper chain adjustment, and a dry chain all eat sprocket teeth. When the teeth get thin and pointy and show asymmetrical wear, the sprocket is done — and the front goes before the rear, because it is the smaller of the two and turns more times for every mile. One trick worth checking first: depending on the wear pattern, a Honda front sprocket can sometimes be flipped over for a little more service life.

Any tooth count fits any of the listed models, so you can stay at the factory ratio or change how the bike pulls: fewer teeth on the front gives more acceleration with less top end, while more teeth gives more top end with less acceleration. The front sprocket is the fastest and cheapest place to make that change.

Specifications

Note: All CB175 K7 / CL175 K7 models — and some late K6 models — use a 520-pitch chain. This 428-pitch sprocket will NOT fit those bikes; they use the 520-pitch front sprocket instead.

Note: A new drive chain cut to the proper link count must be installed when changing to a different sprocket size — the chain length changes with the tooth count.

Model-Specific Notes

• CB175 / CL175 K6: Honda changed the chain pitch during the K6 run — early K6 bikes are 428 pitch, late K6 bikes are 520. Check which chain is on your bike before ordering; if you are unsure, our chain size guide walks through it.
• Late K6 / K7: These can be converted to the 428 pitch by swapping both the front and rear sprockets and running the matching 428 chain.
• CB200 / CL200: 520-pitch bikes — use the 520-pitch front sprocket.

Installation

Difficulty: Intermediate

When you install a new front sprocket, replace the rear sprocket and fit a new chain at the same time — a fresh part running against worn ones wears out early. Torque the front sprocket hardware to 1.9–2.4 kg-m (13.7–17.7 ft-lb), and use a high quality chain lube on the new parts rather than gear oil — chain care is what preserves sprocket life.
