The stretch elastane garment keeps its shape and keeps CE-approved armor in place at the elbows, shoulder and back. Remove that armor for easy washing. A casual cotton or fashion-weight leather jacket still offers minimal abrasion protection and seam strength, but with this armored under-layer to provide CE Level 1 armor in all the right places, you’ve got a much better chance of surviving a tumble unscathed. Pair with an unarmored but-still-plenty-thick leather jacket and you’ve got yourself a proper riding kit that checks all the safety boxes.
