Throttle Cable for Honda CB350 / CL350 / SL350K0

Replacement throttle cable for the Honda CB350, CL350 Scrambler, and SL350K0 (1968–1973). This is a 1-into-2 split cable design — a single cable runs from the throttle grip and splits into two ends, one for each carburetor. This is the only throttle cable you need to operate both carburetors on your 350. Available in black or gray. Replaces OEM Honda part number 17910-286-000.

Why You Need This Part

Your throttle cable is the direct mechanical link between your right hand and the engine. Over time, the inner wire stretches unevenly at the split ends, the housing cracks or kinks, and the cable starts to stick inside the housing. When you release the throttle grip, it should snap shut immediately — if it hangs or returns slowly, the cable needs to be replaced. Frayed strands at the barrel ends, rust on the inner wire, or a stiff/crunchy feel when working the cable back and forth are all signs it is time for a new one. A worn cable also makes carburetor synchronization difficult because the uneven stretch prevents both carburetors from opening at the same rate.

Important Notes

• This cable uses a 1-into-2 split design specific to Honda 350 twins. One cable operates both the left and right carburetors — you do not need two separate cables.
• The SL350 fitment applies to the K0 model only.
• Lubricate the new cable before installation. A dry cable will feel stiff and will not snap shut properly.

This throttle cable fits the following Honda 350 models:

• CB350 — K0 through K5 (1968–1973)
• CL350 Scrambler — K0 through K5 (1968–1973)
• SL350 — K0 only (1969–1970)

All three models use the same 1-into-2 split cable design and share OEM part number 17910-286-000. The cable routing differs slightly between the CB (road) and CL/SL (scrambler/enduro) due to handlebar and frame geometry, but the cable itself is the same part.

Installation

Tools Needed

• 10mm wrench
• Phillips or JIS screwdriver
• Marvel Mystery Oil or light machine oil
• Light grease (assembly lube or bearing grease)

Steps

1. Remove the old cable from the carburetors first. Note which cable end goes to the left carb and which goes to the right.
2. Disconnect from the throttle grip housing. Unscrew the setting screw on the starter switch assembly and separate the two halves to expose the cable end. Remove the cable from the throttle grip pipe.
3. Lubricate the new cable before installing. Loop the cable so both ends point up and drip Marvel Mystery Oil or light machine oil into each end. Let gravity pull it through. Work the cable back and forth to distribute the oil along the full length of the inner wire.
4. Lubricate the nylon throttle sleeve. Apply a thin layer of light grease to the sleeve and the inside of the throttle housing. This reduces friction and ensures the throttle snaps shut cleanly.
5. Route the new cable through the frame and connect to both carburetors.
6. Synchronize the cables. Use the cable adjusters near each carburetor to ensure both throttle valves open and close at the same time and rate. A properly synchronized cable means even power delivery across both cylinders.
